Two Potteries…

Our wet weather plan took us to Porches, about 45 minutes drive from Lagos, where we’d heard about a pottery specialising in Algarve decorative techniques. As the rain poured down we set out, and my only regret is not taking photos or video of the ladies and gents painting their ceramics. It was a lovely atmosphere, surrounded by gorgeous ceramics whilst in the corner a relaxed team happily painted away. We were delighted to find a blazing stove in their cozy cafe – a lovely way to dry off with a hot chocolate and some amazing Banana cake!

Tucked away in the mountain town of Monchique we found a wonderful potter and spent some very happy time in his workshop/gallery/shop. It was magical. A notice forbidding photography put me off taking pics of his work but as we were leaving I specifically asked if I could take a few shots of his workshop and would he mind being there. He was fine with that and I think he wouldnt have minded a bit if I had taken pictures in his gallery/shop. Oh well, next time!
